HANTUCHOVA AND SCHNYDER TOP THE DRAW
07 Sep 2008
by Barry Wood
Slovak Daniela Hantuchova and Swiss-left hander Patty Schnyder topped the draw for the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic 2008 when it was made at the Grand Hyatt, Nusa Dua on Sunday. Hantuchova, who reached the 2007 final before conceding to former world number one Lindsay Davenport, has a bye into the second round where she will face qualifier Olga Savchuk from Ukraine or Russian Alla Kudryavtseva, the player who claimed a stunning Wimbledon victory over Maria Sharapova earlier this year. Schnyder, a former semi-finalist in Bali and a recent quarter-finalist at the US Open, also has a first round bye, before taking on wild card Yaroslava Shvedova of Kazakhstan or Meng Yuan from China. Italy has three seeds in the draw, with number three Flavia Pennetta proving she is in great form after joining Schnyder in the US Open quarter-finals last week. She plays American Vania King. Former world number three Nadia Petrova of Russia is seeded fourth, and she will face Japan’s Aiko Nakamura in her opening match. Italian Francesca Schiavone, who reached the semi-finals when she last played in Bali in 2005, is seeded five, and her opening match is against Indonesian qualifier Sandy Gumulya. China’s Na Li, who reached the bronze medal stage of the Beijing Olympics, is seeded six, and she opens against Japanese wild card Ayumi Morita. Sara Errani is the third of the Italian seeds, and she plays South African qualifier Natalie Grandin in the first round, while eighth seed Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada plays American veteran Jill Craybas. Main draw matches get underway at the Grand Hyatt, Nusa Dua, on 8th September, with play continuing until 14th September. Comments:

11 - Indonesian players is suck!! They need to learn to eat more protein and working hard...they are to lazy to practice n luck feeling to win. shame there is no TOP 10 Player this year, i miss Ivanovic and Jelena, but seems like it just a dream to see William Sisters, and rest of Top 10 play in Bali....hope dream come true for next year!! Cheers........Enjoy Bali
