AN AFTERNOON OF WESTIN REVIVAL WITH THE COMMONWEALTH BANK TENNIS CLASSIC PLAYERS

Bali, 8 September, 2008 - The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali successfully hosted a Revive Afternoon Luncheon for the top international players participating in the Commonwealth Bank Tennis Classic 2008.

High profile players such as Daniela Hantuchova, Flavia Pennetta, Tamira Paszek, Francesca Schiavone, Akgul Amanmuradova, Melinda Czink, Nadia Petrova, Patty Schnyder, and Angelique Widjaja, were in attendance for the luncheon that took place in a relaxed garden setting overlooking the Indian Ocean with the resort’s temple as an inspiring backdrop. Players were entertained by soothing violin music together with a four piece band that harmonized with the sounds of waves gently caressing the nearby shoreline.  

Just prior to lunch, the resort partnered with Dugong Dive Centre and offered players the opportunity to experience an introductory dive session in the main swimming pool. The afternoon then proceeded with a welcome speech by Mr. Bipan Kapur, General Manager of the resort. Next was the official presentation of certificates signed by Daniela Hantuchova to the winners of The Westin Annual Charity Tennis Tournament for UNICEF Check out for Children.

Reigning Miss Bali 2008, Ms. Ayu Diandrasari was also on hand to extend a warm welcome to the contingent of tournament players. She expressed her pleasure at being invited to the luncheon and hoped that all players would return home as ambassadors after experiencing the hospitality offered by Bali – island of the Gods.

The highlight of the event was when the players were invited to help release 60 newly hatched Olive Ridley Turtles. Mr. Bipan Kapur stated, "This species of turtle is considered highly endangered in Indonesian waters and The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali is delighted to support this sustainable program.”

The release was held with the generous support of the Bali Government Nature Conservation association as well as Kurma Asih Turtle Conservation Group. Players actively participated in the turtle release with genuine enthusiasm.

1 - I think your luncheon was wonderful beginning with the food , turtles, and Daniela giving out the certificates for charity. Your tournament sound great. Hope to come to next year's tournament.

2 - Overall Welcome Dinner Party was excellent, nice food! BTW, just a bit weird with the dancers.....not related i think with the party, miss DJ like last year, more fun!!!
